Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed Martial Arts

What is this MMA craze going around and what does it mean?  MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts.  MMA has had an uprising in recent years largely due to the fact that no one art is trying to gain supremacy.  After years of battle and controversy, the outcome has been that the best Martial Art is the integration of Martial Arts.

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world today.  It has become a healthy practice to maintain shape, release stress, and boost energy levels. Members at Cobra Kai have achieved success in weight loss, nutrition, and physical awareness. What can be better than a hobby that improves other aspects of your life?

Our MMA Program

Our Mixed Martial Arts incorporates Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Judo.  Our program teaches how these arts come together successfully.  It is very important to choose a martial arts gym that has had experience in MMA.  There is a lot of ground to cover in MMA and technicalities need to be modified and adjusted for MMA rules.

Joe "Daddy" Stevenson

After speaking with Joe “Daddy” Stevenson in regards to MMA, this is what he had to say,

“I’ve seen many achieve proven self confidence that they see day in and day out.  I’ve witnessed people lose hundreds of pounds by slowly working harder and harder.  MMA teaches you not to judge a book by its cover because with knowledge comes power.
Different aspects of martial arts in areas of strength training, nutrition, and conditioning give a better understanding of everything it takes to become a champ.  You’ll find that anyone can be good at MMA and it doesn’t matter what your shape, size, or talent is because you adjust to a style that is suitable for you.  The sport really makes you want to live a healthier lifestyle because you want to be able to get up and train at any moment.
Fighting is a universal language.  Everyone understands it and everyone can relate and communicate with others in ways you normally wouldn’t.”

MMA and Reality

The best solution to master MMA is to master every individual art.  The problem is that there isn’t enough time to do it.  Take a minute and imagine how long it would take to be efficient at every art and become acquainted with each martial arts appropriate rule set.  The key is to be balanced in striking, transitions, and submissions with at least one area of specialization.

A new martial art has been established.  Will you partake in its expansion?
